John Wall: A Rising Star

Born in North Carolina in 1990, John Wall has always been a devoted and skilled basketball player. He was a fifth year senior in his 2009 class. He was rated by Rivals as the #1 player in the country, an impressive feat. He lead his high school team, Word of God Christian Academy to the state championship game but lost because of a buzzer beater by the other team.

Wall committed to the University of Kentucky after high school but was suspended by the NCAA from his first game because of benefits received by an agent of the University of Kentucky. In his first game he scored 27 points and 9 assists in only 28 minutes of actual playing time. His dominance on the court was clear. His current averages with are 33.7 minutes per game, 17.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. Because John Wall was a fifth year senior in high school some claimed that he would be eligible for the NBA draft due to him being 19 years old. Wall silenced the speculation when he stated that he would not enter his name for the draft. Wall is expected to be the #1 draft pick when he does declare.

In high school, Wall was cited for misdemeanor breaking and entering. This was a minor infraction and had no effect on Wall’s future career goals and success.

I think we will continue to see Wall increase his stats and rise to stardom. I think it is very likely for him to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award upon his first year of league play.
